The fact that there is a shortage of skilled workers in many industries has not been a secret for a long time. A major factor here is demographic change. According to the German Federal Ministry of Education and Climate Protection, the proportion of over-67s in the workforce between 20 and 67 will increase by 30-45% by 2034. In addition, there could be a shortage of up to 16 million workers by 2060 if Germany does not admit immigrants. Already today, 352 occupations out of 801 occupational categories are affected by the shortage of skilled workers. And 55% of companies see the shortage of skilled workers as a risk, today and in the future.
